Co-production of Suffolk's All Age Autism Partnership and Strategy

The Assignment

31ten were commissioned by Suffolk County Council (SCC) to:

  • Set up and manage the All–County, All-Age Autism Partnership Board.
  • Facilitate, shape, inform, consult and organise the production of an All-Suffolk, All-Age Autism strategy.
  • Write the All-Age Autism strategy.
  • Lead on and work in partnership with SCC and other stakeholders to successfully communicate the final strategy to the general public.
  • Provide co-production advice and support to the Partnership Board, to ensure best practice and understanding.
  • Ensure the sustainability of the Partnership Board and associated networks and review ongoing requirements.

The Role

Over a period of 18 months, we developed relationships with key stakeholders from across the local system and developed a vibrant and representative partnership, including residents to manage the co-production process. This included:

  • Setting up a panel of residents with Lived Experience
  • Extensive consultation with voluntary and community sector partners
  • Working closely with officers from across Suffolk County Council, Norfolk and Waveney and Suffolk and North East Essex ICBs

We gathered insights from over 100 stakeholders and produced a comprehensive All-Age Autism Strategy and an agreed action plan that received extremely positive feedback from Suffolk’s Health and Wellbeing Board and the wider Autism Network.

Key Outcomes

  • The strategy was published by Suffolk in the Summer of 2024 bringing together a coherent approach to supporting Autistic residents in Suffolk.
  • Suffolk’s All-Age Autism Partnership first met in April 2023 and continues to grow and thrive and has been adopted by residents and staff into business as usual following support from 31ten.
  • Our work received extremely positive feedback from residents, partners and senior officers across Suffolk.
