Job profile:

31ten is looking to expand our network of associate consultants, by which we mean consultants who work with us as a contractor rather than as an employee. As the breadth of experience contractors can offer is very varied, we really appreciate this network and are able to help them feel part of a team whilst retaining the benefits of working for themselves or on a fixed-term basis.

The key thing for us is your ability to add value to the projects you work on for our clients and finding you a home in our distinctive working culture.

Key areas of focus:

We have entered an ambitious period of growth and we are keen to speak to experienced consultants who are interested in helping us to design and deliver services to local government which:

  • Transforms the customer experience, performance, productivity and outcomes through better use of technology
  • Transforms Social Care, Housing, and other specialist services
  • Producing business cases to support public sector investments decisions in Housing, Economic Growth, Property and Regeneration projects

  • Helps the public sector workforce take advantage of new ways of working, improve leadership and increase productivity

  • Supports the development of ‘places’ through business cases, accessing regional and government funds and targeted project work (e.g., to reinvigorate the high street)
  • Delivers effective development management, development viability, programme management and project management
  • Establishes real or virtual funds to support economic growth / recovery and other objectives

The points above reflect our broad-ranging mission, so we don’t expect experience in them all. In fact, our preferred recruits tend to have a focused CV with strong evidence of experience in one or two areas.

About you:

We’re very lucky to have a very strong pipeline of interesting work, which means we’re particularly keen to hear from associate consultants with experience in the areas listed below:

  • Customer and digital transformation
  • Economic growth, recovery and development
  • Transforming social care services
  • Capital programme development and delivery
  • Procurement and competitive dialogues

Ways to work with us

There are two main options to becoming an associate consultant:

  • Personal Services Company (Ltd Consultant) – this involves a non-employee or services contract, and we pay you directly into your Ltd Company. You will need to make your own arrangements to make sure you’re compliant with all the latest legislation and typically in this arrangement you will have your own accountant.
  • Fixed-term contractor – this option involves the same contractual terms as a permanent employee, including benefits, notice period and statutory rights. The only difference is your contractual end date.
